Our Purpose,
Vision & Mission

The guiding principles of the Lutheran Church in Malaysia.

Purpose Statement

Our Purpose Statement

To carry out the Great Commission in accordance with the Lutheran confession of faith.

The great commission is the reason for which the church exists:

  • to make disciples of all nations
  • by baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
  • by teaching them

Centred on the belief that all are saved by grace through faith, therefore our response and expression of all that we do stems from gratitude. The Lutheran focus is the four solae—Sola Scriptura (“by Scripture alone”), Sola fide (“by faith alone”), Sola gratia (“by grace alone”), Solus Christus or Solo Christo (“Christ alone” or “through Christ alone”) —which forms our priority and core that shapes the work we do and the relationships we nurture. We believe that by doing so, lives will be transformed, bearing witness for Christ to the world.

Vision statement

Our Vision Statement

We aim to grow as a Christ-centred and gospel driven church in Malaysia, building authentic relationships within communities we serve, that brings healing and transformation of lives.

To guide us to achieve our purpose, we believe that we need to grow as an organization as well as an individual in all aspects —spiritual, physical, and social.

This means our growth must be intentional.

The love of God through Christ is our foundation. Our emphasis is to reconcile the world to the Creator. To achieve this, we must be in community by serving and giving. In this way, we make the love of God real to all.

Mission statement

Our Mission Statement

To support and uphold the organisation at all levels to work towards achieving the vision by providing frameworks for all local congregations to work together within the districts, equipping and developing skills and knowledge base.
