SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE FOR
LENT SEASON 2018
The Lent season begins from Ash Wednesday and lasts till Easter, for a period of 40 days excluding Sundays (Sundays are not included in the 40 days because Sunday is always remembered as the day of Christ’s resurrection). Since the old days, believers would fast and pray, repent and reflect on the sufferings and death of Christ.
During this period, the Sunday sermons of the liturgical churches would usually mention such personalities like Moses, Elijah and Jesus. For Moses, he fasted 40 days and 40 nights on Mount Sinai before receiving the Law and Commandments; Elijah, who challenged the false prophets, ran away to a broom tree when he was pursued by Jezebel to be killed. When the angel of the Lord strengthened him with food, he travelled 40 days and 40 nights without food and water. As for Jesus, he was led into the desert where he fasted 40 days and 40 nights; he drew close to the Father and was filled with the power of the Holy Spirit before he was tempted by the devil. With them as our examples, let us therefore learn to fast and pray during this season of Lent.
It is hoped that through the meditation of the scriptures, remembrance of the cross - his salvation and sacrifice during this 40-day Lent season discipline, would bring about repentance and renewal of lives. And with hope, we prepare our hearts to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
* The scripture verses below are from NIV version
* More scriptures are used specially on Sundays for all to meditate, noted by the acronym WLS
L (Losungen): an annual, globally distributed publication of the Moravian Church in North America. Daily devotional of Old Testament and New Testament texts - These scriptures could be used for sharing and greeting in the fellowship.

S (Sunday Lectionary): Sunday readings
14-2-2018 Ash Wednesday (purple)
“I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him.” 1 Samuel 1:27
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24
As we commence with our Lent 40-day discipline, let us lift up our hearts to the Lord, and learn to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness that we may receive answers to our prayers. As we believe; and it shall be granted unto us.
“I will turn their morning into gladness.” Jeremiah 31:13
“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” 2 Corinthians 4:17
How could we be joyful in mourning? And how could we be achieving eternal glory in troubles? It is only by having Jesus in the centre of our heart, committing everything to him and believe in God’s mighty power and redemption, will we then receive the true joy.
“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace.” Isaiah 55:12
Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Nothing,” they answered. Luke 22:
God’s ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts are deeper than our thoughts. Whatever it may be, we are to depend on him, go out in joy and be led forth in peace.
“Look upon my afflictions and my distress and take away all my sins.” Psalms 25:18
“When you were dead in your sins and in the circumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ.” Colossians 2:13
To be alive with Christ means that one has become a new creation, he is no longer under the bondage of sins and loses control of himself. Therefore, let us repent and be renewed daily.
18-2-2018 First Sunday of Lent
W:”As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” Romans 10:11
L: “How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” Genesis 39:9
“Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Hebrew 12:1
S: Introduction: Deuteronomy 26:1-11 | Psalms 91:1-2, 9-16 | Romans 10:8b-13
Gospel: Luke 4:1-13
Let the life of Christ strengthen us to resist temptations and depend on God, be focused in serving the Lord and tread on the path of blessing.
[Confession of Sins]
God, have mercy on us, for we have given foothold to the temptations of sin; we have harboured despicable thoughts in us - greed, pride, strife, testing God and many more of such things that show forth our hypocrisy towards men and you. We have not been able to resist the temptations of devil out-rightly. We have not put our whole trust in you. Lord, have mercy on us. Amen.
[Prayer for the Day]
God, Holy Father of mankind. You are our only sovereign Lord. When one confesses with his lips and believe in his heart, such faith will produce the fruit of faith and will firmly declare you as his Lord and only true God. Dear Lord Jesus, your experience of being tempted for 40 days by the devil in the wilderness has enable us to believe and trust you whole-heartedly that we shall be able to overcome every temptation. We earnestly ask you to free us from the temptations that entangle us and lead us into your eternal truth so that we may worship you whole-heartedly. Teach us also to deal with others and matters with sincerity, act righteously and without any element of hypocrisy. This we ask in the name of the Holy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. For you, with your Son and the Holy Spirit, the only true God who delivers us from all evils. Amen.
“O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads.” Psalm 83:1-2
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9
God has his own timing, to him - a day can be a thousand years and a thousand years as a day. Though at times we may not fully understand, we do know it well that God is love and he loves no matter how. Love perseveres, for he desires none to perish.
“From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit. They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say when there is no peace.” Jeremiah 6:13-14
“For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of men.” 2 Corinthians 8:21
Men’s selfishness and desires give rise to covetousness. Men are always never satisfied for what they have and always thinking that others do not know of their greed. Covetousness could be a sign of lack of peace within a person and men always think that to have peace and security is to have possessions. However, true contentment and peace is obtained by having a heart of no deceit and coherence.
“I will not accuse forever, nor will I always be angry, for then the spirit of man would grow faint before me.” Isaiah 57:16
“When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.” Luke 5:20
Sin causes men to distance from God and paralyses one’s spirit to move forward. But, as men come before God and ask for forgiveness, God will be with those of the contrite spirits and refreshes their spirits. Not only will he withhold his wrath, he will heal and deliver them for sin and they shall be like the paralytic that was healed, jumping for joy and running once again.
“My soul will boast in the LORD, let the afflicted hear and rejoice.” Psalm 34:2
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise - the fruit of lips that confess his name.” Hebrews 13:15
The best sacrifice to God is by proclaiming his name and praising his deeds. However, we shall not praise God merely with our lips but be a witness for him with our lives so that men will experience the power and joy of our faith.
“We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped.” Psalm 124:7
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1
True freedom for Christians is not licentiousness, nor is it pseudo-freedom but: ‘Because of faith’ one receives the gospel and is united with Christ, who being the Lord of all and not bound by anyone. ‘Because of love’, one will love man and God, willing to be obedient as a servant to all and be held in authority by all men.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will sweep over you. When walk through the fire, you will not be burned.” Isaiah 43:2
“What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
We need to know that nothing, neither sufferings, troubles, persecutions, hunger, nakedness, dangers nor swords, can separate us from the love of God, for God is with us, he walks beside us in every stage of our lives, helping and protecting us.
Second Sunday in Lent (25/02/2018)
W: The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom I shall I fear? (Psalm 27:1)
L: He guarded him as the apple of his eye. (Deuteronomy 32:10)
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit. (John 15:16)
S: Introduction: Genesis 15:1-2; 17-18, Psalm 27, Philippians 3:17–4:1
Gospel: Luke 13:31-35
Be strengthened by our Lord, do not look back, go forth boldly and walk the path of the Lord.
Confession of Sins
O dear God, forgive me because your love is eternal, cleanse me from my wrong doings, because you are a gracious God. Please remove my evil thoughts cleanse my sins. I know I have sinned and always dwell in the circle of sin. I have sinned against you by my thoughts, by my words and by my deeds. Therefore, it is right that you pass judgment on me. Please remove my sin, make me holy, cleanse me as white as snow. Let me hear from you the joy of the Lord. Amen!
Prayer For the Day
God, the heavenly Father, through faith you call Abraham, our fore father and also by grace you allow us to fulfill this covenant made. We praise you and give thanks to you. Pray that we will learn from Abraham’s example to live by faith, trust Him totally, not to be afraid of satan’s attack. Dear God, you send your dear Son to face the death just to redeem us. Your won over the enemy is a sign of declaration to the world that even you face the enemy you still love the world and never retreat. May God help us to learn from our Lord the unshaken faith. So that when we face challenges from our enemy, we will not retreat, but instead we are firm in our faith boldly declaring you are our Almighty God. We pray all this in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. God the Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit is a triune God. Also is the God that the whole world will seek refuge from. Amen.
O Lord, you brought me up from the grave, you spared me from going down into the pit. (Psalm 30:3)
The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters, the storm subsided, and all was calm. (Luke 8:24)
In times of emergency, when we are helpless, we will cry out for God’s help. Many a time we are not awakened by God’s call. We need to realize that our lives are still in God’s hand. We are not afraid because we dwell in God’s presence. God will save us in times of need.
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah6:8)
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. (Philippians2:5)
What is good? To act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God. Love is not insisting on your own
way to satisfy your own self. Love is of Christ Jesus, to love others as how we love Christ.
They rejoice because God had given them great joy. The women and children also rejoiced. The
sound of rejoicing in Jerusalem could be heard far away. (Nehemiah 12:43)
All the people were delighted with all the wonderful things He was doing. (Luke 13:17)
During the days of Nehemiah, when the wall of Jerusalem was rebuilt, God gave them great joy, even the children and women also rejoiced. Today let us rebuild our Spiritual lives, boldly accept our Lord’s sending to complete His works and give Him all the glory, witnessing Christ! Deeply believe the joy is from God and the non believers can also perceive the joy.
The moon will shine like the sun, and the sunlight will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven full days, when the lord bind sup the bruises of his people and heals the wounds he inflicted. (Isaiah 30:26)
We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure.(Hebrews 6:11)
Lord remember our hard work, our bruises, help to heal and love shown to others so that we can have hope once again to see the light. Let us be willing to serve God diligently and serve others. In order that it will not come back void in whatever we do.
The Lord bless you and keep you. (Numbers 6:24)
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your Spirit. (Philemon 1:25)
The greatest assurance is God’s protection;
The greatest gift is Jesus’ salvation;
The greatest blessing is to be with God.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. (Psalm 57:1)
1You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. (James 5:11)
Perseverance – it always come from compassion and merciful love, no matter is between God and human or between human. A man full of perseverance is a blessing from God because you will understand is God who gives the compassion and merciful love. Its love is as wide as the ocean and as deep as the ocean.
Third Sunday in Lent (04-03-2018)
W: Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. (Isaiah 55:6)
L: To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here am I, here am I’ (Isaiah 65:1)
And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” (Mark 15:39)
S: Introduction – Isaiah 55:1-9; Psalm 63:1-8; 1 Corinthians 10:1-13
Gospel: Luke 13:1-9
Go in peace, let the life of Jesus lead us the way back to God so that we can walk the path of eternity.
Confession of Sins
Our Almighty God, remember your grace that is ever revealed in the unchanging love. Forgive my sins since childhood. Pray that your grace and unchanging love will be gracious unto me. Our gracious and righteous God, may you guide us as sinners to humbly walk the path of righteousness. May your faithful and unchanging love lead us to obey every commandment and follow the covenant made with God. Oh God, May your promises forgive and cover all my sins. Amen!
Prayer For the Day
Almighty and most high God, the true and living God, we cannot see God with our own human limitation. With our narrow mindedness we are not able to fathom your perfect will for us. You are a mysterious God and your ways are higher than our ways. Yet You don’t want us to remain in ignorance but use all the different ways to reveal your heart’s desire to us. Your Words become the lamp to our feet and the light of the world leading us to walk the eternal path. Lord, we pray that you will motivate and guide us to turn away from all evil and unrighteousness by turning back to God. You are a merciful God who will grant salvation to all of us. Rescue us from falling into temptations. If we refuse to repent, we will fall into severe judgment of God and die eternally. Dear God, we want to depend and rely on you. We pray all this is in the name of the Father, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. This is to take us out of eternal death, and also able to receive the eternal life. Amen!
Rise up and help us, redeem us because of your unfailing love. (Psalm 44:26)
Jesus said: because the kingdom of God is within you. (Luke 17:21)
The kingdom of God is within you means He is in our midst. If we have God, then our lives will have Faith, hope, love and we will live up to God’s will.
Once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder; the wisdom of the wise will perish.(Isaiah 29:14)
God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. (Hebrews 2:4)
God use various ways, especially in wonders to help people understand the Salvation and God’s Almighty power. You cannot say I did not see and I did not hear. You need to see what is happening around you with your Spiritual eyes and whom you see will testify God’s Almighty power.
“Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.” 1 Samuel 2:3
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”1 John 3:18
When God hears man’s prayers, what He wants to hear are not boastful proud words or arrogant speech, but prayers from a truly repentant heart. We should love one another, not with boastful sweet words, or empty arrogant speech, but with a truthful and sincere heart.
Truthful words from a sincere heart make both God and man glad.
“Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.” (1 Chronicles 29:11)
“He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”” (Revelation 14:7)
Everything in Heaven and on Earth belongs to God. Everything we have is by grace from God. Therefore, it is only right that we fully dedicate ourselves to the Lord and serve Him wholeheartedly.
“In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.” Psalm 18:6
“But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen—” Acts 26:22
God is the God who hears prayer, and He is the God who is present with man.
He is our present help at any time, allowing us to stand firm yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
“For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face.” Psalm 11:7
“…he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.” Romans 3:26
People are always self-righteous, not doing righteous deeds and yet believing that only they themselves are the truly righteous ones. God is righteous and loves doing righteous deeds; believers in Christ are also called righteous. Justification by faith is outside the law and also beyond behaviour.
God’s righteousness is given to all who believe in Jesus Christ.
11-03-2018 The Fourth Sunday of Lent also known as Lent are Sunday
W: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" 2 Corinthians 5:17
L: “My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word." Psalm 119: 81
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Hebrews 11: 1
S: Introduction: Joshua 5: 9-12 | Psalm 32 | 2 Corinthians 5: 16-21
Gospel : Luke 15: 1-3, 11b-32
“Return in peace. Let the lift of Christ lead us back to God and embark on the path of grace.”
Confession of Sins
O God, please create a pure heart in me, and give me a new and upright spirit. Do not drive me away from Your face; do not take Your Holy Spirit away from me. Let me experience once again the joy of Your salvation, so that my spirit willingly obeys You. O God, I offer up my broken spirit as a sacrifice; a sorrowful and contrite heart, You will not despise.
Prayer of The Day
Holy God, You are righteous, and You acquit the guilty. It’s only by knowing You, that we know the truth of man’s fall into sin, and that we have the ability to distinguish good and evil. Because of Your goodness, we praise You. God, You motivate us with Your loving kindness to turn around and cut off the relationship with sin. Because of the work of the Son of Man, Jesus, You have removed the fear and shame that came with our sin, and helped man to recover our long-lost dignity and freedom. God, You are the Father in the parable of the prodigal son. Even though man broke Your heart, You stood in front of the house everyday, waiting for man to turn back. You have also promised that if we repent, You will wipe out all our transgressions and take us back as Your children. Oh God, please help us often to break free from the old nature’s control over us, and help us to live out the new nature every day, treating those who are spiritually weak with love, because that is how You treat us. We pray all this, in the name of the Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.
“But I pray to you, LORD, in the time of your favour; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation.” Psalms 69:13
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Colossians 4:2
Prayer is a kind of sharing of life, and not a ritual. When you pray to God earnestly with your heart, you can experience the rich love of God, and also offer up thanksgiving even in times of despair. You will also be constantly alert, and pray continuously.
“Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.” Psalm 32:1
“…in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:14
The forgiveness of transgressions is an enormous release, and redemption is an enormous grace. Let us, because of the love of Christ, do that which pleases God, and increase in our knowledge of God.
“…planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,” Psalm 92:13-14
“But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.” Luke 8:15
Hearing the Word and doing the Word is like a good seed that is planted on good soil and yielding a full crop of fruits. It glorifies God. Let us live in the Word of the Lord. Let those who have ears to hear, hear!
“Praise the LORD. Blessed are those who fear the LORD, who find great delight in his commands.” Psalm 112:1
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
Blessed are those who fear the LORD. Regardless of time and place, they will live for the Lord Jesus. Let us be who God wants us to be, speak what God wants us to speak, and do what God wants us to do.
“If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?” Psalm 130:3
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” Ephesians 1:7
If God records our sins, who can escape His punishment ? But God forgives us instead. What abundant grace! Therefore, we should fear Him.
“For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished.” Isaiah 53:8
“Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” Luke 24:26
Must Christ suffer by shedding his blood and dying for you and me?
No! He need not die for us because he never sinned. It was our sin that caused his death.
Yes! God wills it that our sins be forgiven through Christ’s suffering so as to bring us into his glory.
18-03-2018 5th Sunday in Lent
W “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
L “for I am the LORD, who heals you.” Exodus 15:26
Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed.48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” Luke 8:47-48
S Introduction : Isaiah 43: 16-21 / Psalm 126 / Philippians 3:4b-14
Gospel: John 12: 1-8
》Go in peace, let the life of Christ lead us, look up to God, walk on the path of light.
Confession of Sins
O God, I pray to you in despair. O Lord hear my cry for help. If you were to record all our wrong doings, who can escape your punishment? Yet you have forgiven us and so we should revere you. I wait earnestly for the help of God; I look upon you Lord, more earnest than the watchman at night waiting for dawn! Please save your people from all kinds of sins.
Prayer of the day
Merciful Father in heaven, you have given mankind the eternal hope, that those who dwell in despair and suffering could rekindle their hope and be comforted; those living in crisis, could find a way out by trusting in you. God we give you thanks. Dear God, the coming of your Only Son into the world has ushered in a new era, bringing us the best blessing through your redemption. As assured by Paul we will have everything if we have you, the precious treasure in our life. We plead to you Lord, save us from being lost in materialistic pursue and pleasure lest we forget the divine joy. On the contrary, lift up our vision and teach us to see things on higher level, not to linger on the past glory but to labour with you to build a better tomorrow. May you fill our lives with strength to pursue the beauty and goodness of life, till we finish our walk on earth with no regret. Life is meaningful only when you live in us. Beside you, nothing on earth can satisfy us fully. We pray in the name of your son, Jesus Christ our Lord. God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are wonderful Lord, leading man to eternity.
“Show me, LORD, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is.” Psalm 39:4
“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ” Philippians 3:20
We should be kingdom-minded for our hope is in God. May the Lord teach us to number our days so that we gain wisdom in our hearts.
“There you saw how the LORD your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.” Deuteronomy 1:31
“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.” 1 John 4:16
How can man believe so surely that God is love? In retrospect, we are like the ancient Israelites in receiving God’s care and His great love. God is in the pillar of fire by night and in the pillar of cloud by day, guiding us in the way to go. God is walking ahead of us, carrying us on his back, like a father carries his son, leading us onto path of eternity.
“When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God?” Isaiah 8:19
“And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” Colossians 2:15
Man believes in God and so his sins are forgiven, he rises up with Christ after going through water baptism, and he boosts of his victory by trusting in the cross. By the cross God has disarmed all principalities, and publicly showing them off as captives behind a triumphal procession. Therefore believers need not be bound by laws, regulations or other spiritual beliefs in the past. Man just need to ask of God because Christ is the head of all authorities in power.
“you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land.” Leviticus 26:5
“Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. They all ate and were satisfied” Luke 9:16-17
Jesus is the bread of life – he who comes to him will never be hungry nor thirsty. God will never forsake us, He remembers and cares for us so that we can live peacefully on earth.
“Sovereign LORD, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy” 2 Samuel 7:28
“who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:4
God’s Word is truth - Christ’s incarnation has revealed the heart of God, enabling us not only to know the Word of God but also to experience the love of God.
“The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.” Exodus 15:2
“When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen” Luke 19:37
Christ is our salvation – coming down from heaven above to take up the lowly form of man, enabling us to understand what is total submission. Let us praise him from the bottom of our hearts, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
25-03-2018 Palm Sunday
W “The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.” Psalm 118:14
L“ I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.” Psalm 119:14
“Now may the God of peace, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21
S Introduction : Isaiah 50: 4-9a / Psalm 118: 1-2, 19-29 / Philippians 2: 5-11
Gospel: Luke 19: 28-40
》 Go in peace, let the life of Christ help us to know clearly our mission and to step on the road of glory.
Confession of sin
O God has mercy on us. We have allowed ourselves to live in weaknesses, not doing what we ought to do but do what we should not be doing instead. We are not teachable and our ears often refuse to listen to your Word; our tongues are often out of control and blast out evil words in anger; our hearts are not teachable and tend to go astray in its own way, going against the truth of God.
Prayer of the day
O God may every single heart return unto you, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.
“The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.” Psalm 16:6
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24
Christ is our master – we are to serve Christ with all our hearts. Humble yourself in his service, willingly and with humility. As we are all servants of God, let us do what is pleasing to the master.
“Where is the wise person? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?” 1 Corinthians 1:20
Christ is the wisdom of God – to some the cross is foolish, but to us who are saved it is the power of God and this is the great wisdom of God.
“The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth, from the rising of the sun to where it sets.” Psalm 50:1
“See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks.” Hebrews 12:25
God is Almighty – God has spoken His holy word to us and called us to follow Him. Let us be alert always to harkens to the voice of God.
“My righteousness draws near speedily, my salvation is on the way, and my arm will bring justice to the nations.” Isaiah 51:5
“And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” Luke 22:15
It was at the Passover dinner that we witnessed the depth of Jesus’ love for His disciples.
Today, when we partake the Lord’s Supper, how much do we love Jesus?
Do we yearn to receive the Lord’s Supper and to receive salvation from God?
30-03-2018 Good Friday
“My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.” Psalm 27:8
When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!” John 19:5
“Behold this man!” “He is Christ the Lord who loves you to the end, willing to pay all, even to sacrifice his life for you. Come seek after Him! Seek and you will find.
“I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.” Isaiah 57:15
“You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.” Acts 10:36
By faith, Christ became flesh and died on the cross, bearing our sins that we become righteous in Him.
By love, Christ willingly laid down His life to become our example, teaching us how to love one another.
By hope, Christ rose from death, giving us a living hope to share the gospel of peace to all men.

Prayer of the day
O God, on this day as we remember how your Holy Son Jesus overcomes death, we beseech you to send the Spirit of Jesus, that is the Holy Spirit to take control of our body, soul and spirit. Let us hear of your gospel and have life-changing experiences in order to show forth the beauty and glory of your resurrected life in us. Let every day be a resurrected morning, every meal a love feast in Christ presence, every move spreading the fragrance of the lily. In this way, we will not only wait for the Second Coming of the Son in hope, more so testifying that we are your chosen new breed of mankind, the blessed group during the End Times. We pray in the Name of the Holy Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen !
